Carroll Academy Homecoming and Carrollton Pilgrimage: Tradition continues

Carroll Academy’s homecoming parade aptly kicked off the 2022 Carrollton Pilgrimage Friday, which is themed “Good Old School Days.”
The 1 p.m. parade had attendees excited.
“Candy!” 5-year-old Hayes Bussey of Strawberry Hill exclaimed. “There’s going to be a candy man there,” he said before the parade.

Greenwood native shares memories with family

Victor Bokas had only traveled to Greenwood twice with his 91-year-old mother, Aspasia, before he made a multi-day journey from his home in the Milk District of Orlando to spend a night with her at The Alluvian.
Accompanying them to Aspasia’s hometown were Bokas’ sister, Sonthe Bokas Burge, and their cousin, Christina Athas.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
