Que on the Yazoo: Time to get cooking

Que on the Yazoo is on its way to another smokin’ year in downtown Greenwood.
Barbecuers from across the state and a handful from Tennessee are competing this year in Que on the Yazoo’s annual barbecue competition, which is divided between pro and patio competitors.

‘Seussical, Jr.’ offers charming, entertaining fun

The Greenwood Little Theatre has produced a colorful and fun production for its first show of the season.
“Seussical, Jr.,” a roughly hour-long musical, follows — through the imagination of JoJo, a boy who “thinks a think” — the story of Horton the elephant as he faces trials trying to save the Whos.

Superintendent suggests year-round schedule for schools

Superintendent James Johnson-Waldington has suggested that the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board consider adopting a year-round school schedule with intermittent multi-week breaks.
Johnson-Waldington presented the idea to the board at its Wednesday work session.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
