Seniors in the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District in 2023-2024 who have progressed sufficiently in their academic work may be allowed to leave earlier in the class day, if a policy suggested by the superintendent is adopted.

St. John’s members saying little about disaffiliation

The governing body for United Methodist churches in Mississippi is expected to approve by the end of June the decision of St. John’s United Methodist Church to disaffiliate.
Members of the Greenwood church, however, are not saying much publicly about the split.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
