Health fair set for Monday at rec center

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board voted Tuesday to allow a health fair to take place in Greenwood High School’s gymnasium, but the event will be held elsewhere instead.

Maker of short film considering Greenwood as shooting location

Greenwood may once again be seen on the big screen if the city is chosen as the location for a film set to be shot in August.
“Criminal” will be a short film that “asks for equal health care for everyone,” according to Lauren Davis, the director. The film will be shot Aug. 12-21 in either Leflore County or Natchez.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
