Research center studies gun violence

The Mississippi Center for Violence Research, a new program launched by the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, seeks not only to prevent violence but also to enact preventive strategies to reduce it.
The center was created in April.

Two Greenwood men have died after a Wednesday night shooting.
The victims were Lasine McKinnon, 48, and Demetrius McClain, 41. Both men died from gunshot wounds, Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said.
