Utility looking into bottled water, dark fiber to boost revenue

Greenwood Utilities has two ideas to produce new revenues: bottled water and dark fiber.
Whether those ideas come to fruition remains to be seen, but on Tuesday, the Greenwood City Council unanimously approved allowing Greenwood Utilities CEO Brian Finnegan to find out.

The Taxpayers Channel has filmed its last public meeting.
In an email to subscribers Monday night, John Pittman Hey, who has managed the free news service for more than three decades, announced The Taxpayers Channel would cease operations effective immediately.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
