Two Greenwood City Council incumbents have submitted qualifying papers to run for reelection.
Ward 3’s Ronnie Stevenson, the council’s president, submitted his papers Tuesday, and Ward 7’s Carl Palmer submitted his papers on Jan. 17.

Man sentenced to life for attack

Marvin Ivey has been sentenced to life in prison for his attack on Neysha Sanders in 2022.
More than two years after the attack, which cost Sanders one of her eyes, her brother, Alix Sanders Jr., testified to the court that his sister has made progress but is still on her recovery journey.
