Man found innocent in 2023 killing

A Leflore County man was found not guilty Tuesday in the shooting death of another man on New Year’s Eve 2023.
Bennie Leahman Sr. was accused of shooting Cordell Hiler, 52, at Hiler’s apartment at Williams Landing on Browning Road.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
