JACKSON — Only a small percentage of Mississippi voters did not take photo identification to the polls for the presidential election, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said Monday.

More than 1.2 million people voted Nov. 8 in the state, and 560 of them did not show a driver’s license or other form of government-issued ID, he said.

Voters came out early today in Greenwood to cast their ballots. Michael Washington was one of 31 voters to cast ballots at the Youth Center by 7:55 a.m. Polls will remain open until 7 p.m.

JACKSON — Mississippi voters are making their choice for president today, with Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton seeking the state’s six electoral votes.

The state last chose a Democrat for president in 1976, having voted for Republicans in every election since.

JACKSON — When Phil Bryant ran for governor in 2011 and 2015, there were parts of Mississippi where he didn’t spend much time or money, and there were reasons for that.

Issaquena, Sharkey and Jefferson counties have small populations. They are also politically predictable, with a long history of voting for Democrats.
