State breaks several 1-day COVID records

JACKSON — Mississippi has broken its single-day records of COVID-19 hospitalizations, intensive-care use and new coronavirus cases.
The state Health Department said Thursday that 1,490 people were hospitalized Wednesday and 388 were in intensive care because of COVID-19. It also said 4,412 new cases were confirmed.

JACKSON — The U.S. Supreme Court should overturn its landmark 1973 ruling that legalized abortion nationwide and let states decide whether to regulate abortion before a fetus can survive outside the womb, the office of Mississippi’s Republican attorney general argued in papers filed Thursday with the high court.

Mississippi health officer: Refrain from J&J vaccine for now
