2 of 4 stolen lawn mowers recovered

Authorities have recovered two of the four lawn mowers that were stolen from Delta Farm and Auto early Saturday morning.
Two mowers were still missing Monday afternoon, said owner Anthony Gammill, whose business is on U.S. 82 in Greenwood.

147 students to graduate from Greenwood High on Thursday

One hundred and forty-seven Greenwood High School seniors will celebrate the end of their high school careers during a graduation ceremony Thursday starting at 2:30 p.m. at Mississippi Valley State University’s Rice-Totten Stadium.

Grieving mother wants barrier at accident site

Mary Saffold Sanders continues to grieve over the loss earlier this month of her daughter, Lasheila Williams, and Williams’ boyfriend, Anthony Jones, when Williams’ car ran off a road and plunged into the Yazoo River near Morgan City.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
