Chamber to honor businesses, community at annual meeting

The Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the end of a year and the beginning of a new one with its 2022 Chamber Honors Annual Meeting & Taste of Greenwood.
The event will be held Thursday at the Leflore County Civic Center.

The Museum of the Mississippi Delta will hold an opening reception for its new exhibition “Reuben Hale: A Retrospective” from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Reuben Hale grew up in Greenwood. He is seen in the early 1960s at Palm Beach Junior College, where he was an art instructor.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
