Delta Streets Academy’s Charity Weekend will be held April 26-27. The two-day event will include a four-man golf scramble, $5,000 drawdown dinner and silent auction, and sporting clay tournament. The Charity Weekend is Delta Streets’ biggest fundraiser of the year.

Delta Streets Academy is gearing up for its biggest fundraising event of the year.
The school's annual Charity Weekend will be held Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.
“Every year we are overwhelmed by the support from Greenwood,” said Gray Blocker, director of development at Delta Streets.

Spring cleaning: Weeklong community clean-up set for April 22-27

A large community-led effort to clean up Greenwood and Leflore County is coming up.
The weeklong event is part of the Keep America Beautiful program, which emphasizes during the spring months of April and May a massive cleanup effort across the country.

The next Hush Puppy Music Co-op concert will be held Tuesday at the Old City Hall, located at 121 Main St. in downtown Greenwood. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. The headlining band will be Florence, Alabama-based indie rock band Carver Commodore, which includes members, from left, Noah Freeman, David Smith Jr., Payton Pruitt, Phillip Blevins and Clayton Christopher.

Indie rock band to play Tuesday at Old City Hall Tuesday

Members of the band Carver Commodore say the band plans to “get rowdy in the Old City Hall” and put on a lively performance at an upcoming concert presented by Hush Puppy Music Co-op.
The Florence, Alabama-based indie rock band will be the concert’s headliner.

Local news matters to Greenwood. It keeps the people informed and connected. It asks the questions they want answered. It elevates what’s good, and it exposes what’s not.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
