Divine dance

When Fulvia Ford saw her dance team, Virtuous Divine, featured on Lifetime’s hit show “Bring It!,” she screamed with elation.

Several parents and members of the team echoed her cheers at Virtuous Divine’s “Bring It!” viewing party held on Wednesday, attended by more than 50 members, parents and friends.

The Mississippi Office of Highway Safety is kicking off its Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign on Friday. The campaign will last through Sept. 1 and is aimed at reducing the amount of drunk drivers on the road during the Labor Day holiday. To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
