“I love my life,” she said. “I’m leading a very blessed life.”

Lubiani is a lifelong Greenwood resident and a 1970 graduate of Greenwood High School.

Into the wild

Things got a little wild at the Greenwood-Leflore Public Library on Thursday.

The Jackson Zoo’s Zoomobile traveled to the downtown Greenwood library bringing the wonders of wildlife, including a bearded dragon lizard, a corn snake and a ferret.

The Junior Auxiliary of Greenwood is gearing up for its annual summer reading program, Bucks for Books.

Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Greenwood-Leflore Public Library.

The program is open to all children who are entering grades 1-6 for the 2017-18 school year.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
