IHM spaghetti supper, carnival set Monday

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church is gearing up for its annual autumn tradition — the Spaghetti Supper & Halloween Carnival.

The event will be held Monday at the church and will feature an assortment of games and activities for children and adults and 1,200 plates of its signature spaghetti.

Greenwood resident wins service award

While Ashley Griffin was first runner-up at the Miss Black Mississippi USA Pageant, she will still have the opportunity to represent her hometown and state on a national stage.

Griffin is the winner of the state pageant’s Community Service Ambassador award.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
