CARROLLTON — The town of Carrollton is known for its historic homes, churches, and commercial storefronts — all either lovingly maintained or restored to their former grandeur. Last week, the town added a new jewel to its crown with the completed restoration of the historic Carrollton Water Tower.

2022 Carrollton Pilgrimage sets state’s largest reunion

CARROLLTON — The annual Carrollton Pilgrimage and Pioneer Day has always served as an unofficial homecoming celebration for Carroll County natives, with several class reunions scheduled around the two-day event. This year, the unofficial has become official with Pilgrimage organizers planning Mississippi’s largest class reunion.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
