Illinois church group returns to work, minister

Balloon fest set for liftoff

Preparations for Greenwood’s Balloon and Music Festival are ahead of schedule, and “now all we need is people at the front gate,” organizer Ken Gammill says.

The festival begins Thursday, and the weather for the weekend looks great, said Mark Bowie, balloonmeister for the event.

An exchange of gunfire between a robber and a customer Sunday at a Greenwood grocery store has led to a person of interest being held.

Greenwood Police Chief Ray Moore said the suspect will likely be charged today.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. outside the Big Star store at 206 Cotton St.
