Eddie Curry of the Greenwood Public Works Department pulls down
the cover on the Willye B. White Memorial Highway sign Thursday.
The sign honoring the five-time Olympian is on the southbound
section of U.S. 49 South. A similar marker graces the northbound
section of the highway at Sidon. In the foreground,
Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce past President Michael
Joe Cannon, center, and the chamber’s current president, Suresh
Chawla, right, helped with the unveiling.
