Businessman, farmer, philanthropist and civic activist Aven Whittington Sr. stands out as an important figure in Greenwood’s growth and progress over many decades.
“He was the best man I’ve ever known. ... He went to the office every day, including this past Wednesday,” said Mr. Whittington’s son-in-law, Jim Sumner.
