Gene McClary counts himself lucky.
On Friday night, McClary and his friend, Javardrick Stigler, were cycling home around 7:30 p.m. when McClary, 18, was struck by an eastbound pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. 82 and Garrard Avenue.
“My side is still hurting,” McClary said by telephone Saturday.
