Joerick Grice Collins, center, a senior at Amanda Elzy High School, is starting a fundraising drive at the school for the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation beginning Monday. The effort, known as “Pennies for Patients,” will seek loose change donations from each homeroom class. The funds will then go to defray the transportation expenses of cancer patients. The campaign will continue throughout the school year. Here with Joerick are Freddie White-Johnson, left, founder and president of the foundation, and Joerick’s father, Robert Collins.
