Sheriff: Markers may not be stolen

The investigation into the dumping of nine grave markers on Central Avenue Tuesday afternoon has taken an unexpected turn.

“We found on a couple of them, they are not missing from the gravesites,” said Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks.

The Leflore County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into the dumping of nine grave markers on Central Avenue.

The markers were dumped in a vacant lot sometime Tuesday afternoon, according to Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks.

City pool upgrade to finish by May

Despite the wet weather, the $275,750 planned renovation of Greenwood’s Eddie (Sonny) Brown Memorial Pool is moving on.

The contractor is Delta Blue Pools Inc. of Greenwood. Mayor Carolyn McAd-ams said that according to Robert Rhyne Howard, owner of Delta Blue Pools, the work should be completed before school lets out in May.
