Council delays action on appeal

The Greenwood City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to delay appealing a judge’s order in the election challenge involving Sheriel F. Perkins and Mayor Carolyn McAdams.

Perkins, a former mayor, lost the 2013 mayoral election to McAdams by 206 votes but has challenged those results, alleging irregularities and fraud.

A crew from Malouf Construction Co. begins work to replace a collapsed 15-inch sewer line on Avenue A on Monday. The line, located as deep as 20 feet underground, will cost the city $380,000 to replace. The line serves about 3,000 residents in south Greenwood.
