Fall webworms have made an early appearance in Greenwood. This web, located on a pecan tree in the 700 block of Dewey Street, is part of an infestation. Combatting the insects can include shredding the webs with the hook of a coat hanger or by spraying them with Spinosad, a commercially available insecticide.

City to get 3 more trash trucks

The city of Greenwood, faced with mounting piles of trash, is likely to get relief soon with the arrival Friday of three new knuckle-boom trucks.

The city originally ordered four trucks, but the delivery of three of them was delayed due to a lack of available chassis, said Susan Bailey, director of the city’s Public Works Department.
