City Council clerk asks for raise

The Greenwood City Council’s clerk would like a raise.

A resolution that the council could vote on during Tuesday’s regular meeting would increase Cinderella Morris’ salary from $30,971 to $31,907.

Morris is a 20-year employee of the city.

Suit dismissed mayor happy

Mayor Carolyn McAdams said the Friday dismissal of a suit challenging her victory over Sheriel Perkins in the 2013 mayoral election made her happy, adding, “It’s like I’m the mayor now.”

When asked for her reaction, Perkins replied simply, “You have a good weekend.”

In the June 4, 2013, election, McAdams won by 206 votes.

2 men deny selling their votes

Update: Judge dismisses mayoral challenge

Judge Henry Lackey dismissed the jury today in Sheriel Perkins’ lawsuit over the 2013 Greenwood mayoral election results, saying she had not met her burden of proof.

Mayor Carolyn McAdams defeated Perkins in that election by 206 votes. Perkins sued, claiming there were irregularities in the voting.
