Itta Bena Mayor Thelma Collins presented the Leflore County Board of Supervisors with $15,000 Monday to cover some of the costs of providing her city with police protection.

Car shot full of holes; no one wounded

Greenwood police are continuing their investigation of a weekend shooting that resulted in a car being riddled with bullet holes.

No one was wounded in the shooting that occurred near the intersection of Main and Palace streets, said Police Chief Ray Moore.

Music Fest set for Friday, Saturday

The Greenwood Music Fest, coming up Friday and Saturday, will feature a variety of musical styles as well as food and other activities.

The free event will be held in the park between the bridges in North Greenwood. Admission is free, but no private coolers will be allowed.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
