Man accused of stealing cars

An investigation into a reported car theft Tuesday in Itta Bena resulted in Leflore County deputies making an arrest and recovering two stolen cars Wednesday.

Antonio Henderson, 22, 210 Young St., has been charged with two counts of grand larceny. He remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning.

‘The Power of Children’ exhibit to open March 31

A new traveling exhibit chronicling the lives of three courageous youngsters is due to be unveiled later this month at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta.

Thursday was moving day as the exhibit, known as “The Power of Children: Making a Difference,” rolled into town packed in 25 crates.

Water laps at the top of Greenwood’s boat ramp Wednesday. An SUV slid into the Yazoo River on Sunday due to silt build-up on the ramp. City crews regularly remove accumulated silt from the ramp, but recent high water levels have prevented that.

High water blamed for accident at boat ramp

A weekend mishap at Greenwood’s municipal boat ramp in which an SUV slid into the Yazoo River is indeed a rare occurrence, city officials said.

Silt, built up during high river levels, is routinely removed by city workers when they can safely get at it, said Mayor Carolyn McAdams.
