Greenwood Health & Rehab has new name

Greenwood Health & Rehabilitation Center has a new name and new leadership, and it might also get a new home.

As of Saturday, the independent nursing home took on the name of Crystal Health & Rehab of Greenwood, LLC. Judy Ullery, who is based in Memphis, serves as its president.

New book features writer's memories of Greenwood

Susie Tidwell says her daughter, Suzanne Tidwell Zoch, has always been creative and loved to write.

But Tidwell received a special treat over Thanksgiving when her daughter brought her a copy of a book she had written, "Growing Up Southern." Not only that, but Zoch had dedicated it to her mother.

World AIDS Day events set at MVSU

Education is the theme of World AIDS Day today, and Mississippi Valley State University is scheduled to announce a grant to help its students educate other people about HIV and AIDS.

This year's World AIDS Day theme is "I Care… Do you? Youth and AIDS in the 21st Century." Students from 21 high schools have been invited to attend.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
