James O'Keefe says too many politicians in Washington look out only for personal interests, and he is running for the U.S. Senate to put the focus back on the people.

The 54-year-old Long Beach resident, who is running for the seat now held by Republican Trent Lott, spoke Wednesday to the Greenwood Voters League.

Acclaimed bluesman to perform in Greenwood

For 40 years, Paul Geremia has lived solely off his music, gaining a reputation as a top country blues performer while staying on the road.

Next week, his travels will bring him to Greenwood.

Geremia, who is from Providence, R.I., will perform at The Blue Parrot Café at 7 p.m. April 3.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
