Allied Enterprises Inc. is asking the community for two things - more work and more workers.

Allied, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services, offers jobs for the disabled. The Greenwood office, housed on Browning Road for about 20 years, is one of 17 in the state.

Threadgill Day Care Center will close

The day-care center and pre-kindergarten housed at Threadgill Junior High School will close Thursday after 24 years of work.

Threadgill Day Care Center's license expires Thursday. A planned shuffle in the student populations at some of the city schools forced the day-care to either move or close.

Agriculture secretary talks about Delta's importance to economy

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
