Complaints about property values continue

Leflore County Supervisor Phil Wolfe said today that he continues to receive complaints from constituents about the disproportionate increases in property values in District 1.

The Board of Supervisors heard complaints from Wolfe and landowner Vernon Ricks at its Aug. 6 meeting. It delayed action on them until today's meeting.

Mitchell, Emmerich in Mississippi Business Journal's top 50

Celia Emmerich and Dr. Patsy Mitchell have been recognized by the Mississippi Business Journal. The list will appear in the magazine Aug. 20.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
