Man hospitalized after stabbing

The Leflore County Sheriff's Department is looking for a suspect in a Thursday night stabbing that left another man hospitalized.

J.C. Hudson, 48, of 19A Holly Grove Road near Sidon, was in guarded condition in Greenwood Leflore Hospital after being stabbed in the neck.

Community prayer service planned

Community groups are coming together to pray for the victims of Tuesday's terrorist attacks and send them aid.

A communitywide service will be held at 7 tonight at McKinney Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at 224 Short St. Representatives from the police and fire departments and the Armed Forces are expected to speak.

Flags flying at half-staff

Flags fly at half-staff Wednesday at the veterans' memorial monument on Claiborne Avenue. Gov. Ronnie Musgrove ordered that flags be lowered to remember the victims of Tuesday's terrorist bombings. Local residents also are being encouraged to fly flags as a show of support.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
