Greenwood teen to carry Olympic torch

When the Olympic torch travels through Tennessee this weekend, a student from Greenwood will be helping to carry it along.

Sterling Kidd, 17, will carry the torch two-tenths of a mile in Jackson, Tenn., Saturday morning.

The route began in Atlanta Dec. 4 and will end when the Winter Olympics begin in Salt Lake City Feb. 8.

Second annual Schlater parade set for Saturday

Transportation Commissioner Zack Stewart has agreed that another study of traffic at the intersection of U.S. 82 and Sunflower Road could be done to decide whether it needs a stop light.

Stewart, commissioner for the Northern District, met with citizens Tuesday at Mississippi Valley State University.

Governor visits city to promote health plan
