Former Baldwin workers await compensation

Joe Cooper worked for Baldwin Piano & Organ Co. for 36 years before the Greenwood plant closed in May 2001.

More than a year later, the former machine setter says he is due six weeks' severance pay, seven weeks' vacation pay and regular pay for his last two weeks of work.

Residence hall directors file lawsuits against Mississippi Valley State University

Governor, Payton vow to fight for seniors

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
