Dr. John Weiss, center, associate professor of music at Mississippi Valley State University, is the Mississippi Humanities Council’s Teacher of the Year. The award is presented at the institutional level each year in the fall and then at a statewide awards ceremony and gala in Jackson, being held tonight. Making the presentation in October at the university are, at left, Timothy Lampkin, the council’s outreach coordinator, and Dr. Constance Bland, MVSU director of academic affairs.
