Pratt said she has been complaining to East Leflore Water and Sewer District about the smell for months, but got no response until Thursday. The water district said it didn’t hear about the smell until this Wednesday and went out to check it on Thursday.

Charter middle school applicant lands grant

Leflore Legacy Academy, one of three recently submitted charter school applicants in Leflore County, has been selected as a 2018 Invent cohort by the NewSchools Venture Fund.

Leflore Legacy is one of 23 applicants out of some 200 across the country chosen to receive grants for 2018.

Scholar, author to speak at Nativity

Bonnie Thurston, a leading Christian scholar, author and poet, will offer a series of lectures and participatory sessions Friday through Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in downtown Greenwood.

The public is encouraged to attend the events. The church has been holding a weekend Speaker Series annually since 2012.

Alderman wants answers about truck damage

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
