Greenwood Voters League backs Baria in Senate runoff

The Greenwood Voters League on Wednesday followed the lead of members of the Legislative Black Caucus and endorsed David Baria in the June 26 runoff election with Howard Sherman.

The winner of the primary runoff will face incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker in the November general election.

Fire damages church

A mid-afternoon fire Tuesday at Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ caused significant damage to the kitchen and fellowship hall area of the building, but Greenwood firefighters were able to keep the fire out of the sanctuary.
