Legal challenges are mounting against Mississippi’s “religious freedom” act, House Bill 1523.
The controversial measure allows protection for individuals and organizations with “strongly held religious beliefs” to deny services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, as well as people who engage in sex outside of marriage.
