October Festival offers food, fun

Itta Bena will celebrate the arrival of autumn with its annual October Festival on Saturday.

Organizer Gladys Fant said attendees can expect entertainment throughout the day, including gospel singer Vergie Dishmond from Jackson in the morning and blues singer Little Willie Farmer from Duck Hill in the afternoon.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
