Citizens Militia of Mississippi has rented the historic “Conservative Office” in Carrollton for its state headquarters. Although the appearance of the new tenants has raised some concerns, Pam Lee, president of the historic preservation organization that owns the building, says she sees the potential for cooperation between her group and CMM.

Man dead in apparent homicide

A 21-year-old Greenwood man is dead in what appears to be Leflore County’s 12th homicide this year.

Ralphfeal Bentonia Baines was found lying in the front yard of 223 West Percy St. when police arrived on Wednesday night around 6 p.m., according to Greenwood Police Chief Ray Moore. Baines had been shot once in the back of the head.
