FAA grant to help airport runway

Greenwood-Leflore Airport has received an $863,836 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to rehabilitate its runway.

The Greenwood airport’s grant is one of 15 given to local airports throughout Mississippi, totaling more than $6.32 million.

Board gets good news on finances

Greenwood Leflore Hospital’s board on Tuesday night heard positive reports from two consulting firms working with the hospital on saving money and improving hospital and public relations.

The auditor overseeing the hospital’s pension plan gave an overall positive report as well.

Two members of the media were present, but no other representatives of the public or the school district were in attendance.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
