Mayes re-elected as board president

Deirdre Mayes was unanimously re-elected as president of the Greenwood School Board on Thursday, and Samantha Milton was re-elected as secretary.

Mayes said this would be the last time she would serve as president.

Judge delays sentencing in hot-grease attack

A woman testified Thursday at a sentencing hearing for her husband, who was convicted of domestic aggravated assault for pouring hot grease on her and severely injuring her in 2015.

Kendall Woodson, 39, was convicted by a jury Tuesday night. His wife, Anita Taylor, returned to Greenwood from Iowa to testify.

Man faces sentencing in hot grease attack

Sentencing was set for today in the Fourth District Circuit Court for a man found guilty of pouring hot grease on his wife in 2015.

The assault by Kendall Woodson, 39, occurred Aug. 6 at the Delta Trailer Park where the couple and their children lived.
