Households in Itta Bena found themselves without water on Friday after the city’s utility company disconnected them for unpaid or overdue bills.

Residents of Pine Acre Ranch, an apartment complex outside the city limits, awoke to knocks on their doors warning that the water was being turned off.

Builder honored for his Stribling Park efforts

Kenneth Thompson Jr. was honored Thursday night with the Book of Golden Deeds Award by the Greenwood Exchange Club.

Thompson is president of KT Builder Inc. construction company and has been instrumental in constructing, updating and maintaining the extensive baseball field complex at Stribling Park, owned by the Exchange Club.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.
