These students from the Leflore County Robotics and Drone Camp appeared before the Leflore County Board of Supervisors on Monday to thank them for funding the summer program. Ulysses Kelly, director of information technology for the Leflore County School District directed the program that taught students how to build and program robots and how to fly a drone. Altogether, 32 local students participated in the multi-Saturday program that culminated with a field trip to the Nissan plant in Canton.

Reports of multiple incidents of bricks, bottles and even a watermelon being hurled at passing cars and trucks on U.S. 49 between Greenwood and Tchula have regular drivers of that route on edge and wondering when an arrest will be made.

Sign where Till’s body was pulled from river is vandalized

A replacement sign at the site where Emmett Till’s ruined body was pulled from the Tallahatchie River in August 1955 has been shot at and penetrated by four bullets.

This is the third sign placed at the site and the second time one of those signs was vandalized by gunshot.
