Fire Dept. will distribute, install smoke alarms

The Greenwood Fire Department will be handing out and installing dozens of smoke alarms at homes in need of one thanks to a donation from the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Assistant Chief John Lewis said Greenwood requested and received 54 for now and can reapply for more once these have been distributed.

MVSU search committee formed

Mississippi’s College Board has announced the formation of a search committee to select the next president at Mississippi Valley State University.

Based on the first steps the board settled on Thursday, Acting President Jerryl Briggs would appear to be the leading contender.
