Accident victim to get jury trial

The Mississippi Court of Appeals has reversed a lower court’s decision, paving the way to a jury trial for a Carroll County man who was badly injured in a 2012 vehicle accident.

Parade day nears

The 82nd annual Roy Martin Delta Band Festival and Christmas Parade will take to the streets of Greenwood on Friday, representing the oldest ongoing parade of its kind in Mississippi.

Expect the usual suspects — bands, floats, dancing teams — and expect a few newcomers.

Black farmers updated on suits

Former Post 200 commander did a lot for veterans

Nehemiah Wright Jr., formerly commander of American Legion Post 200 in Greenwood, has died at age 52 following a years-long struggle with cancer.

Funeral services for Mr. Wright, who died Tuesday at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Church of God in Christ.
