JACKSON - Minutes after Gov. Haley Barbour named her to the Mississippi Court of Appeals on Monday, Donna M. Barnes of Tupelo placed her hand on her grandmother's Bible and took her oath.
Barnes, 43, became the only woman currently on the 10-member appeals court and only the second to serve since the court started operating in 1995.
