Pay debts for bad checks by March 31 or face prosecution

Those who have written bad checks in the past have until the end of March to pay their debts before the Fourth Circuit district attorney brings down the hammer.

The district attorney’s office has announced that those who have incurred debts due to bad checks have until March 31 to pay any outstanding fines or face prosecution.

Districts' graduation rates improved

Graduation rates for the Greenwood, Leflore County and Carroll County school districts for the 2018-19 school year were up over the previous year, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

The department released its annual accountability report for the 2018-2019 school year Thursday.

River flood warning on until Sun. afternoon

The National Weather Service has issued a river flood warning for Leflore County until Sunday afternoon.

The warning is for the Yalobusha River at Whaley, whose flood stage is 21 feet. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the river was at 22.8 feet.
