Woman dies from gunshot wound

A 20-year-old Greenwood woman died from a gunshot wound to the head Wednesday afternoon at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.

Latasha Carter was brought to the hospital around 1:47 a.m. Wednesday after being shot in the Buckeye Community, Sheriff Ricky Banks said.

$10,000 given to economic foundation

The Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation has received a $10,000 contribution from BellSouth to help fund its long-term economic development plan.

BellSouth will also consider donating additional money in the the future as the program develops, said Carolyn Manning, Delta area manager for the company.
